Is EFT a……SCAM?

Scam: a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation.

If you've never tried Emotional Freedom Techniques, but you've read or heard of some of the astonishing stories about "EFT," you may wonder if a whole lot of people are simply being tricked. Pain gone in seconds? Trauma resolved in an hour? Limiting beliefs changed in days? What's going on here? I believe what's going on here is a paradigm shift. And this may sound nutty, but I think it's planetary. A paradigm is a broad or more specific framework of philosophical or theoretical laws or generalizations. Basically, what we believe about things.

For example, my perspective of traditional medicine, is that a Dr looks at a patient as a bag of bones and other parts. The patient has a problem say with an elbow. Maybe it's tennis elbow. And the Dr looks at the elbow and prescribes one of a number of things: plain and simple rest, medication for pain, and perhaps surgery. Ta da! Typically, the Dr will NOT take into consideration that perhaps just before the tennis elbow manifest, the patient had a fight with a friend (or any number of scenarios) and you might not either. Say what?

For at least a couple of decades now, practitioners in other fields, and scientists have been discovering the biology of our beliefs. In fact, Dr Bruce Lipton wrote a book, called the Biology of Belief, showing that it's our positive and negative thoughts that create our reality at the cellular level. Millions of people are now exploring the possibilities that EFT and other methods that involve the energy of the body, can literally change the condition of the body in moments, minutes, and hours, rather than days, months, and years! That is a paradigm shift, especially if it is true.

When I was first introduced to EFT, I read many of the testimonials with wonder, and being of a curious nature, I downloaded the manual and tried it on something I totally could not test in the moment. "Hmmm." I sent it to a psychologist friend and asked her opinion and we both went "Hmmm." I left it alone for at least a year and then started seeing references everywhere to it. So, I tried again, only this time I threw caution to the wind and ordered the first two or three sets of DVDs. Man! Those and my other EFT DVD sets, are among my most prized possessions. The most valuable information I've ever learned except the principles of faith I believe in.

I started using EFT and getting results. A lot more hmmmms going on! I kept scratching my head. HOW is this working? Most everything I tried it on improved. My real aha and unexplainable results came when I applied it to my teen son's hernia and the pain was gone immediately and it subsequently healed spontaneously with no surgery. And I also found the power in our thoughts and feelings when I could not resolve a shoulder issue until I addressed that I had recently had a falling out with a friend and tapped on the guilt, shame, and embarrasment I was feeling around that.

I actually got a little scared. WHAT IS THIS???? Is it new age? Is it voodoo? Is is satanic? I laugh now. I had several discussions with my husband and he put my strange doubts to rest. It's a tool. Ding, ding, ding! Dr, Chiro, EFT practitioner.

It's one tool in the box of tools you can use to better your health. You might feel like going to the Dr for something, especially if you haven't realized to try it on everything. Or if medical help is urgent. You might go to the chiropractor. Although I can't tell you the number of times I have felt my spine or other things pop and crack after tapping, not even feeling there was a need. You could go to a hypnotist, an acupuncturist, an herbalist, or any other number of natural health practitioners. Or you could come and see me. Or learn how to tap and apply it yourself. Plain and simple. Try it on everything!

I am not a licensed physician or psychiatrist. I am a teacher and a consultant and I use EFT with clients to target and address stress in the body. I cannot and do not diagnose, nor do I guarantee you will have excellent results though typically the average person can get 50-70% success with their own use. If it's not working, it may just mean there are techniques you don't know. That's when I can help.

EFT is a very flexible improvement tool that can be used for just about everything. Although I try to remain true to my training, I am using my version of it here. I have had extraordinary results and urge you to contact me for more information. I don't have medical or psychology training, but offer EFT as a teacher and coach.
